Meet the Chef

Deana Allgaier MS, RD is a registered dietitian and personal chef. While many 5-year-olds were glued to the TV watching Sesame Street and Mr. Rogers, Deana spent her childhood enthralled by Julia Child and Martin Yan. Following her early interest in food, she graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics and completed her dietetic internship. She then went on to receive her Master’s degree in Nutrition with a focus in behavior change. Realizing not all of her food demons had been satiated, Deana attended culinary school at the Cambridge School of Culinary Arts, in Cambridge Massachusetts, where she graduated with honors, and went on to be a culinary instructor in their recreational cooking classes. While in Boston, she also obtained a Wine Studies certificate from Boston University.
As a registered dietitian, Deana understands peoples’ struggles with trying to eat healthy. Deana has created “In Season” as a way to pair her love of the culinary arts with her strong nutrition knowledge and passion for supporting sustainable agriculture. She thoroughly enjoys bringing her knowledge and delicious healthy food to others. Chef Deana believes that an emphasis on fresh local ingredients, organic when practical, and cooking with a minimum of processed foods can produce long lasting effects on one's overall health.
Deana is a member of the American Dietetic Association and the Vermont Dietetic Association. She is also a member of "SLOW FOOD USA", a non-profit member supported organization that seeks to create a lasting change in the food system. When Deana is not cooking, you can find her hiking in the woods of Vermont or kayaking in her Chesapeake Light Craft Kayak.
